Assault Over Trust Fund Leaves Twins in NICU
At eight months pregnant with twins, a woman was violently assaulted by her sister-in-law over a $150,000 trust fund intended for her unborn children. The attack left her in the hospital and her babies fighting for their lives in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
The Trust Fund That Sparked Violence
The victim, whose name remains undisclosed for privacy, was married to Ryan Brooks, a construction executive working overseas in Singapore. Before leaving, Ryan had established a protected trust fund of $150,000 for their unborn twins, Sophie and Lucas, to cover medical care, childcare, and future education.
However, Brianna Brooks, Ryan’s sister, learned about the trust through their mother, Patricia Brooks. According to the victim, Patricia had always treated her as “the temporary wife.” Brianna saw an opportunity to claim the money for herself, insisting Ryan had promised it to her for a boutique business.
