C-Section Mom Left With $50 on Bus After Husband Takes SUV
Audrey’s Story of Betrayal and Strength
Five days after an emergency C-section, Audrey stood outside the hospital cradling her newborn son, Leo. Instead of helping her into their luxury SUV—a wedding gift from her father—her husband, Dominic, pressed a crumpled fifty-dollar bill into her palm and ordered her to take the bus.
“This is enough for the bus. Hurry up, my mother is already waiting for us for lunch,” Dominic said, dismissing her pain as she struggled to stand after major surgery.
The Moment Everything Changed
Audrey, still recovering from childbirth, could barely process what was happening. “Dominic… what do you mean, the bus?” she asked, her voice trembling. His response was cold and dismissive: “Don’t start, Audrey. My sister was up and moving three days after giving birth, and she didn’t make half the drama you are.”
The black SUV, polished to perfection, waited beneath the hospital entrance. Dominic walked toward it without a backward glance, leaving Audrey and Leo behind. His parents and sister emerged from the lobby, laughing as if they were heading to a celebration rather than picking up a new mother and her baby.
Victoria, Dominic’s mother, barely acknowledged Leo, while his sister, Natalie, hurried past with complete indifference. “Oh, brilliant, you’re finally out. Dominic, let’s move, or we’ll miss our seating block,” Victoria said, ignoring Audrey’s condition entirely.
A Painful Journey Home
With no other option, Audrey boarded the city bus, every step sending sharp pain through her stitches. As the bus rolled through Manhattan, memories of her marriage flooded back. Dominic had always believed her father was a modest contractor, unaware of her true identity as the daughter of Charles Brooks, founder of Brooks Global Corp, one of the country’s most influential infrastructure companies.
At a traffic light, Audrey saw their SUV waiting in the next lane. Dominic and his family were laughing on their way to a lavish lunch at Carbone, completely unaware that she and Leo were just feet away on public transportation. In that moment, something inside her shifted.
She pulled out her phone and called the one person she had spent years trying to keep out of her marriage. “Dad,” she said calmly, “I need you to dispatch a security detail to my apartment immediately. Dominic just sent me home on a city bus with Leo five days after my C-section. I am leaving him permanently.”
The Aftermath of a Cruel Decision
By the time the bus reached her neighborhood, her father’s security team was already waiting. They escorted her and Leo to Brooks Manor, her childhood home, where her father stood waiting. “You took a bus?” he asked quietly, his expression hardening. When she confirmed Dominic had given her only fifty dollars, he simply said, “No man who truly loves his wife sends her home alone five days after major surgery.”
That evening, Dominic called, demanding she return. “Where are you? I told you there was rice in the refrigerator,” he said impatiently. Audrey’s response was firm: “I won’t be coming back.” His disbelief turned to anger, but she stood her ground. “I’m leaving because you showed me exactly how little I mean to you.”
Victoria called next, berating Audrey for “throwing a tantrum over transportation.” When Audrey reminded her she had just undergone abdominal surgery, Victoria scoffed, “You’ve always been spoiled.” The messages from Dominic and his family continued, but not one asked about her recovery or Leo’s health.....
