Margaret Ellis stood beside her daughter Emma’s coffin, her hands clasped tightly as she fought to remain composed. Emma, pregnant and pale, lay motionless inside the casket, her hand resting over the curve of her belly where her unborn son had died with her.
Emma’s husband, Evan Vale, entered the church laughing, his arm wrapped around his mistress, Celeste Marrow. The sound of their laughter cut through the hymn, drawing every eye in the congregation. Evan, dressed in an expensive black suit, greeted Margaret with casual warmth.
“Margaret. Terrible day.”
Celeste leaned in, her perfume filling the air as she whispered, “Looks like I win.” Margaret’s grief turned to rage, but she forced herself to stay silent, staring at Emma’s still hands.
The Will That Changed Everything
Emma’s attorney, Mr. Halden, stepped forward with a sealed envelope. Evan smirked, confident that whatever Emma had left behind would eventually belong to him. But as Mr. Halden began reading the will, Evan’s smile vanished.

Mr. Halden revealed that Emma had left her personal assets, life-insurance proceeds, the Lake Arden property, and most shockingly, her twelve-percent shares in ValeTech Holdings to Margaret. Evan’s face drained of color.
“That’s impossible. Emma didn’t own shares. I gave her an allowance.”....
