The doctor, hoping to check their mental sharpness, begins with a simple question: “What is three times three?” The first man thinks hard, squints his eyes, and proudly announces, “274!” His answer is wildly incorrect, but he delivers it with full confidence. The doctor raises an eyebrow but continues calmly.
He turns to the second man and repeats, “What is three times three?” The second gentleman smiles pleasantly and replies, “Tuesday.” His response, though completely unrelated, is given with such sincerity that the doctor can’t help but be puzzled.
