Born in Long Beach in 1956, Bo was drawn to acting and equestrian sports from a young age.

At 16, Bo met film director John Derek — then 48 and married to actress Linda Evans. The two began a controversial relationship, marrying when Bo was 19. John became her creative partner, photographing and directing her until his death in 1998.
