When our daughter Zoey was born, our world changed for the better. My wife and I were exhausted but overjoyed, and our golden retriever, Beau, seemed to think Zoey was his own puppy, watching over her constantly. At first, it was sweet, but things took a worrying turn when we hired Claire, a seemingly calm and sweet nanny. Beau hated her instantly. He’d growl, bark, block her from Zoey, and even bared his teeth. It was Beau who sprang into action, barking, nudging the crib, and finally snapping at Claire — not to harm her, but to force her to pay attention. He saved our daughter.
We immediately fired Claire, reported her, and contacted the agency. As for Beau? He now wears a silver tag that reads: “Zoey’s Guardian.” He’s still by her side, always watching, but now, we listen. Because he was never the problem; he was the protector all along.
