San José, Costa Rica — Malcolm-Jamal Warner, best known for his iconic role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, has died at the age of 54 after a tragic drowning accident while vacationing with his family in Costa Rica.
According to local authorities, the actor was pulled out to sea by a strong current while swimming at Playa Cocles in the province of Limón on July 20, 2025. Witnesses say Warner was enjoying time at the beach when he entered the water with a friend. While the friend made it back to shore safely, Warner was caught in the current and quickly disappeared from sight.
