Though Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis may be growing up in the limelight as royals, it seems their parents are trying to make sure their upbringing feels as ‘normal’ as possible.

Wills and Kate have gone to great lengths to make sure their childhood doesn’t feel too different to that of other kids their age, from giving them specific, non-royal names at school to making sure birthdays are filled with all those ‘noisy’ toys that take ages to put together.

Also, there are some aspects of their everyday life at home that are just like ours, including – unfortunately for the trio – chores.

“Catherine is very, very natural. She keeps the family down to earth.”, a royal source told the Daily Mail.

“Home is a safe haven. In a bid to keep things functioning as smoothly as possible she has been keen for everything to carry on as normal for the children.”

They added: “The children are still expected do their chores and to muck in at home.”

Indeed, you’d think being second in line to the throne might protect you from having to tidy up around the house, but there’s no such luck for George or his younger siblings.

Two years ago, William and Kate decided that their live-in nanny would not come with them when they relocated from Kensington Palace to Windsor.

Even though they employ daytime staff to help manage their jam-packed working schedules, when the kids come home from school they’re raised by mum and dad, without any external assistance.

This means they’ve got to muck in with some of the housework, with the three children given three daily tasks.

“I think it would surprise people to see how ordinary things are at home,” the source continued.

“The children help with laying the table, clearing their plates when they’ve finished eating and helping with tidying up. There’s no preferential treatment.”

While William’s mealtimes were said to be spent with nannies, Kate’s slightly more average experience is now echoed in how they bring up their kids.

“She has a lovely supportive family to turn to, which helps,” the source said of Kate.

“But she wants to show her children the importance of being grounded and in touch with people.”
