Pennsylvania Taco Bell Manager Performs CPR on Baby Struggling to Breathe in Drive-Thru: ‘Saved My Son’s Life’

“He turned completely blue and was lifeless. At that point I just completely blacked out,” a mother recalled after her 11-week-old son had breathing issues

A mother is forever thankful to a Taco Bell manager in Richboro, Penn., after she helped save her baby’s life.

On April 13, Natasha Long stopped by the fast food joint in Bucks County for some food after running some errands with her 11-week-old son Myles when he began struggling to breathe.

“I ran out of the car and ran around and opened the car door,” Long said of the terrifying incident, per ABC affiliate WPVI. “I pulled him out and he turned completely blue and was lifeless. At that point I just completely blacked out. I didn’t know what to do.”

It was then that Taco Bell manager Becky Arbaugh immediately jumped into action to help after hearing Long’s cries for help.

“I threw my headset. I ran outside,” Arbaugh recalled. “I took the baby and I started to do chest compressions on the baby and then he finally started to breathe.”

Arbaugh — who Long said was her guardian angel — explained how one of her two daughters suffered a similar experience years ago, so she knew to stay calm.

“When my kids were little, my daughter had a similar incident, so I knew what she was feeling,” the manager said. “I knew if I kept her calm and I stayed calm, there was no thought in my mind that the baby wasn’t going to breathe again.”

Myles finally started breathing again, but what caused him to struggle to breathe is unknown. He was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children for treatment.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Taco Bell shared, “We are incredibly proud of Becky from the Taco Bell brand’s Richboro, PA, location for her heroic act earlier this week. We are getting in touch to express appreciation for her quick actions and kindness.”

“We couldn’t be more grateful to Becky,” Long, who has been in regular contact with Arbaugh since the incident, told WPVI, adding: “She saved my son’s life.”

“I just thought of myself as a mom with another mom that needed help,” Arbaugh insisted to the publication.
