Iconic 90s talk show host no longer recognizable as she claims Instagram won’t verify her account

Sally Lowenthal, also known as Sally Jessy Raphael, was a daytime television regular in the 1980s and 1990s, but now she’s having problems being recognized.

The former talk show presenter moved to Instagram, saying that the social media platform failed to authenticate her account despite her submitting evidence of identification.

“So, Instagram doesn’t want to give me my blue check, no matter what proof I send them,” the 89-year-old said beside a photo of a massive blue checkmark. “AND there is a bogus account called’realsallyjr’, which is NOT ME! Help me notify Instagram so that we can fix this.”

Raphael started presenting The Sally. The Jessy Raphael Show, subsequently known as Sally, premiered in October 1983. She presented the tabloid-style show until May 2002.

Her show was one of the first syndicated talk shows to allow audience involvement. She helped lead the path for women in the profession, notably Oprah, whose program debuted three years after Sally’s.

Raphael interviewed several celebrities over the span of 20 seasons, but Audrey Hepburn was always her favorite.

“I was so awestruck, I could hardly ask a question. Everything she did, I admired. Everything she had done in her life I found to be exemplary,” she told the DailyMail.

Raphael has maintained a trademark style throughout her career and even in retirement, which distinguishes her from the throng.

When production began for The Sally Jessy Raphael Show, she discovered she couldn’t see the teleprompter.

“When we first started, I glanced at the teleprompter and exclaimed, “I can’t read that!” “I am going blind!”

While looking for a new prescription, Raphael stumbled upon an advertisement offering an eye test, glasses, and a Pap smear. Despite the strange advertisement, the talk show host scheduled an appointment.

During the appointment she was told she would need a more expensive pair of glasses, but unfortunately they only color they had was red.

“You got it,” Raphael said.

Although she had not anticipated the difficulties she would experience from the producers of her program.

“I had to battle to get the spectacles. Producers attempted to modify them. “Those shadowy figures objected to everything.”

She has subsequently collected more than 200 pairs of red spectacles.

Raphael has less than 650 Instagram followers as of August 2, but her admirers are equally as vocal, if not more so, in their devotion.

“The Icon, the Legend of daytime TV, Ms. Sally Jessy Raphael needs her Blue Check Mark ?”

“That’s pretty crazy that someone as famous as you are is having trouble with being recognized. I’m trying to understand what the issue is though”

“We should flood your feed with blue hearts it’s so much better than a blue checkmark”
