When the recording ended, the judge wasted no time. His expression hardened as he addressed Damian, making it clear the court would not tolerate threats or manipulation toward a child. Zaden, however, was treated with compassion and respect. “You are very brave for speaking up,” the judge told him. “You will stay with your mother, where you feel safe.” Hearing those words, I could finally breathe again, overwhelmed with relief and gratitude.
As we left the courthouse, Zaden squeezed my hand and whispered, “I just wanted the truth to come out.” Tears welled in my eyes as I knelt down to hug him. “You showed incredible courage today,” I said.
