A Child’s Surprisingly Polite Take on Date Etiquette Sparks Laughter

Posted on 30 December 2025 By tony

During a routine classroom lesson on good manners, a teacher decided to test her students’ understanding of polite conversation. She posed a simple but delicate scenario: how to excuse oneself during a dinner date.

One student offered a blunt and overly honest response, stating plainly that he needed to use the restroom. The teacher gently explained that such wording would be considered impolite in a formal setting.

Another student tried a more refined approach, apologizing politely and saying he needed to step away briefly. While an improvement, the teacher noted that even mentioning the restroom at the table might still be inappropriate.

Finally, a third student delivered an answer that caught everyone off guard.

With confidence and charm well beyond his years, he suggested saying something along the lines of: asking to be excused for a moment in order to greet “a very dear friend,” one he hoped to introduce after dinner.

The classroom erupted in laughter, and the teacher was left both amused and impressed. The moment served as a lighthearted reminder that sometimes, the most unexpected wisdom—and humor—comes from the youngest voices.
