The first sounds Audrey’s twins heard after birth were not lullabies but divorce papers slapping onto her lap. Dominic, her husband, stood beside his pregnant mistress, Natalie, in the neonatal unit, his voice cold as he dismissed their fragile newborns.

“They’re too weak to be worth ruining my life,” he said, staring at the incubators holding Liam and Chloe, born eleven weeks premature. Each baby was so small they barely filled a palm, surrounded by medical tubes and monitors.

The Betrayal in the Neonatal Unit

Behind Dominic, Natalie wore an ivory maternity coat—one Audrey had ordered months earlier, embroidered with her twins’ initials. She smiled as she ran her hand over the fabric.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Natalie said. “Dominic said you wouldn’t need it anymore.”

Dominic dropped a pen onto the divorce papers. “Sign.”

Audrey had nearly bled to death during delivery at just 29 weeks. She had spent two days unconscious in intensive care, while Dominic visited only once—using that time to prepare his exit.

“I emptied every joint account,” he said. “I canceled your credit cards too. The apartment lease is under my name, so you and these runts are on your own.”

A nurse tensed, ready to intervene, but Audrey raised a finger, signaling her to wait. Dominic mistook her silence for surrender.

A Fortune Hidden in Plain Sight

Three years earlier, Dominic had proposed quickly after learning Audrey inherited what she called “a small family trust.” She never corrected him, remembering her grandfather’s warning: “People reveal themselves when they think you have nothing.”

She signed the divorce papers without protest, even as Dominic misspelled Chloe’s name. Natalie laughed. “That was easier than I expected.”

Then Audrey unlocked her phone. “I’m calling my grandfather.”

Dominic froze. “Your grandfather?” he scoffed. “I thought he died years ago.”

Eight minutes later, the elevator doors opened. Hospital security, the chief medical officer, and Audrey’s grandfather, billionaire Arthur Crestwood, stepped out. The entire floor fell silent as he approached.....
