Actress Wenne Alton Davis, best known for her appearance on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, has died at the age of 60 following a traffic accident in New York City.
According to authorities, Davis was struck by a vehicle around 9 p.m. Monday while crossing near West 53rd Street and Broadway. She sustained severe head and body injuries and was transported to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The driver, a 61-year-old man operating a 2023 Cadillac XT6, remained at the scene and was not injured. As of Wednesday, no charges have been filed. The NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad continues to investigate the incident.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Davis had been out to dinner with friends and was walking toward a nearby train station at the time of the accident.
Born in 1965, Davis moved to New York City in her twenties to pursue a career in stand-up comedy before transitioning into acting. While building her career, she also worked at JFK International Airport.
Her manager, Jamie Harris, remembered her as “a bright light,” saying, “She had a huge love for New York, for acting, for her colleagues at JFK, and most of all, her family and her circle of friends. Friendliness and kindness were simply who she was.”
In addition to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Davis appeared in Blindspot, New Amsterdam, and The Normal Heart.
She is remembered for her warmth, dedication, and love for the city she called home.
Rest in peace, Wenne Alton Davis.
