CBS has announced that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will end in May 2026, wrapping up a successful 10-year run. Colbert shared the news with his audience during a July 17 taping, emphasizing that the show would not continue with a new host. “It’s not just the end of our show—it’s the end of The Late Show on CBS,” he said.
Despite leading late-night ratings for nine straight seasons, CBS said the decision was based on financial challenges, not show performance. Colbert thanked his 200-person staff and CBS, calling the network “great partners.”
