How To Use F1 to F12 Keys For Time-Saving Shortcuts

I will be the first to acknowledge that I am not a tech expert. When my computer starts acting up, I normally panic and wait for someone else to resolve the problem. So, on that topic, I’ve never known what the F1 to F12 keys on my computer’s keyboard do. If you’re not sure what these keys do, we’re about to explain!

For illustrative purpose only

F1
This key is used to indicate “help.” If you’re using Windows and need help with an application, press the F1 key to activate the help window.

F2
F2 is used to rename certain files and directories. This shortcut works with all versions of Windows.

F3
To change upper to lower case letters at the beginning of each section in Microsoft Word, press Shift + F3.

F4
In Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer, pressing F4 brings up the location bar. Pressing control + F4 will also close the currently open window.

F5
Pressing F5 refreshes the page or the full desktop.

F6
Pressing F6 moves the cursor in the location bar. Control + Shift + F6 will start a Microsoft Word document.

F7
You can use F7 to check spelling and grammar in programs like as Microsoft Word and Outlook.

F8
When you press the F8 key, your PC will enter safe mode and reboot.

F9
This key has no real purpose in Windows, but it is frequently used in design programs such as AutoCAD.

F10
Pressing F10 brings up the menu in the organizer window. Pressing shift + F10 is equivalent to doing a right mouse click.

F11
Pressing F11. F11 works in any browser and switches the window to full-screen mode.

F12
In Microsoft Word, pressing F12 will bring up the “save as” prompt. Shift + F12 saves a document in Microsoft Word, while control + shift + F12 prints the document.
