13 truck drivers parked side by side in the middle of the night to save a life

Even if it might seem like humanity is losing itself, some stories rejuvenate our faith in it. In 2018, more than a dozen truck drivers sprung into action in a seemingly random act of kindness. It was the dead of night too – 1 A.M. The cause was a police distress call. But what could have been the call that made so many semi-truck drivers unite?

A Common Cause For The Truck Drivers

In Michigan’s Oak Park area, the truck drivers received a call announcing a distressing situation. An unknown man reportedly stood on a local bridge’s edge, seemingly prepared to let go and fall upon the freeway underneath. The drivers, luckily, did an amazing job. They hurried over to the location and parked their trucks underneath the bridge, making the safest landing space they could if the worst happens.

On that night, the worst did not come to pass. However, this is not an unforeseen situation, according to the Police Department of Huntington Woods. Sergeant Jason Brockdorff, in an interview with the Detroit News, had said that truck drivers and the local police had taken training for such a situation. However, even he found the number of truck drivers responding to be unusual.

The situation had continued for almost four hours, and the morning was about to break. Needless to say, the presence of the trucks allowed the police to carry on negotiations much more comfortably. In the end, they convinced the man to come down by himself. Afterward, he received medical help.

Salutations From The Police

The police department in the locality, later on, raised awareness of such incidents by tweeting about them. Here they are:

We, as well, take this opportunity to encourage anyone in distress to seek medical help. Fortunately, for that man almost 4 years ago, unknown strangers had banded together with the police to save his life. Not all of us may not be as lucky, but help is always available.
